I feel in love with Etta James thanks to Beyonce's portrayal of her in Cadillac Records, but before witnessing this movie, I only heard Beyonce sing "I'd Rather Go Blind," "At Last." I dont know what specifically clicked with me, but I know Beyonce helped. To me now Etta James is second to Whitney Houston, Whitney is my favorite female artist. The best I have ever heard, but Etta James is second, I love her sound, the roughness, the soul, the depth she puts into her music. I am so in love with "Come A Little Closer" Album. She is a beautiful lady and her music is beautiful as well. Check her out. You'll fall in love with her, and her music. Peace!
  • Comparison to Jim Morrison?

Jim Morrison might have been rolling in his grave, but it was solely to turn over and hide his face in shame upon hearing Miss Etta - any talent he MIGHT have had greatly pales in comparison to Miss Etta's talent and artistry.

  • The Real Deal

This lady is the only macth in the whole wide world for The Queen, Aretha Franklin. This is it, this is the real deal. Aretha had to make many of the same types of concessions in the songs she sang that you hear Etta make on this compilation. Areatha's career and mental stability were managed exponentially better that Etta's. This music is unbelievable.
